Getting ready to SING!

My husband, Film Foodie Ozzy, is obsessed with movies. No movie is too corny or serious for him to enjoy. He also looooves animated films, and we often go on dates planning to watch something more "adult"-the latest  Oscar-nominated film or thriller-and end up opting for an animated movie, just to lighten the mood and have a laugh. I am the first to admit, I am never too old for an animated movie. Throw in some well-known voices, AND some of my favorite top 40 hits, and I am sold.

When I first saw the trailer for SING and the giant pig that comes out singing that instantly recognizable "RA RA OH LA LA" from Lady Gaga's " Bad Romance", I couldn't stop laughing. I then rushed to show it to Ozzy, and we watched the trailer like 4x trying to catch all the familiar songs and voices in the trailer.

Set in a world like ours but entirely inhabited by animals, Sing stars Buster Moon (McConaughey), a dapper koala who presides over a once-grand theater that has fallen on hard times.  Buster is an eternal—some might even say delusional—optimist who loves his theater above all and will do anything to preserve it.  Now faced with the crumbling of his life’s ambition, he has one final chance to restore his fading jewel to its former glory by producing the world’s greatest singing competition.

Five lead contestants emerge: Mike ( Seth MacFarlane), a mouse who croons as smoothly as he cons; Meena (Tori Kelly), a timid teenage elephant with an enormous case of stage fright; Rosita (Reese Witherspoon), an overtaxed mother run ragged tending a litter of 25 piglets; Johnny (Taron Egerton), a young gangster gorilla looking to break free of his family’s felonies; and Ash (Scarlett Johansson), a punk-rock porcupine struggling to shed her arrogant boyfriend and go solo

First of all, I feel like in some way, shape or form we've heard all these actors and actresses sing so we know it's gonna be great. I recently saw Tori Kelly in concert and I am so excited to see her star continue to rise, especially in the movie world!

Secondly, I can't wait to take Abe to sing along to some of my favorite songs, and get him excited for music at such a young age. I am going to get him excited early by coloring this cool Sing poster with him, which is FREE for you to download to color with your kiddos too.
